Download and listen to free audiobooks

A recent movement getting media attention is the distribution of free audiobooks (of material that is in the public domain).

These can help you pass the time while traveling, exercising or cleaning (among other things), and can be downloaded to your MP3 player, burned to an MP3 CD, or played directly from your computer.

Check out this National Public Radio (NPR) Article about the popularity of free audiobooks. The article has links to several websites with audiobook podcasts (which, in case you didn't know, although they're called "podcasts", you don't need to have an iPod to listen to). The only site I've downloaded from so far is LibriVox.

For those of you with children (or who are young at heart), LibriVox has some children's stories. Also, check out Kiddie Records Weekly, where you can access their 2005 or 2006 archive of free downloadable children's stories.
